If you enjoy singing and/or playing musical instruments AND feel that you can make a fairly regular commitment to rehearsals and liturgies, please consider joining one of our music ensembles.
THE CHOIR sings at the 9am Mass each Sunday, from early September through the middle of June. The choir sings a variety of music, from the more traditional chants and anthems, as well as more contemporary Catholic compositions. The ability to read music is NOT a requirement. Additional singers in all voice ranges - soprano, alto, tenor, and bass - are always welcome.
CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE
This ensemble of various instruments and singers joins the congregation in sung prayer at the 11:30am Sunday Mass. Though the music is predominantly contemporary, traditional hymns are also sung.
RESURRECTION CHOIR
This ministry is open to parishioners 18 years of age and older who are free during the day for funerals. Rehearsals are held prior to the funeral Mass. Members do not need to already be in another music group.
ADULT HANDBELL CHOIR
This group of enthusiasts enhances our liturgical celebrations on special occasions.. Utilizing hand bells and chimes, this choir is open to parishioners 14 years of age and older. The ability to read music is not required. The choir plays at Christmas, Easter, and three to four times throughout the year.
CANTORS
A cantor should possess a pleasant voice, sing in tune, articulate text clearly and be able to attend one of the Tuesday rehearsals. Cantors also should possess a desire to aid in engaging the assembly in active participation and a willingness to take direction in developing skills for that purpose. Under exceptional circumstances, this ministry is also open to musically gifted high school students.
CHILDREN and YOUTH
Children are encouraged to participate seasonally at Christmas, Easter and for other special events. Rehearsals begin 6 weeks prior to the event. Children and Youth will sing, play hand bells and other instruments.
